JSSN Request Form
This form must be submitted to request a pairing with a peer mentor OR to request outreach services such as a group presentation, setting up an informational table, creating a bulletin board or conducting a workshop on any mental health related topic. JSSN Application
The Jag Student Support Network (JSSN) is currently accepting applications to become a Certified Peer Mentor. As a Certified Peer Mentor for JSSN, students will receive training on various mental health topics including depression, anxiety, stress management, support and leadership skills, and more. The JSSN Program consists of a group of dedicated and diverse students from our campus who are trained and equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to reach out and support other USA students. Ashley Jackson
Hey everyone! I am a Psychology major with the desire to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My personal goal is to help eliminate the stigma centered around mental health. I currently work as an advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities and during the school year, I tutor elementary aged children. Most importantly, I am an advocate for you! I have a passion for helping others, especially my peers. I know that we can understand and help each other better than anyone else!

Hello everyone! My name is Beyouncé Johnson , and I am from Port Allen , Louisiana . I am a senior majoring in psychology with a minor in criminal justice. I joined JSSN to be a voice for those who may struggle to express their experiences, to advocate for mental health awareness, and to contribute to creating a more supportive community for students.

Hi! My name is Holly, and I’m a junior majoring in psychology with a minor in anthropology. I joined JSSN because I’m passionate about supporting students as they navigate their academic journey. As a non-traditional student, I understand the challenges of balancing coursework, personal responsibilities, and adjusting to university life. My goal is to provide encouragement, share helpful strategies, and create a welcoming space where students feel heard and empowered. I’m excited to connect, offer guidance, and help others succeed in their college experience!

Hey y'all! My name is Zoe Bloecher, and I am from New Orleans, Louisiana. I am a junior majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology! I joined JSSN because college is a great time in life but also the weirdest. I love to be a listening ear to whoever needs it and a ray of light in a dark time!

Allison Brown
Hi everyone! My name is Allison Brown and I'm from Tuscaloosa, AL. I am a junior psychology major with a focus in pre-med and a minor in chemistry. I joined JSSN because I want to shine a light on those who struggle in the dark and let others know that they have someone on their side because, no matter what, we are not alone. This provides a unique opportunity to challenge the stigma around mental health and allows me to connect with others and the community. I look forward to meeting and helping students!

Hey everyone! My name is Lauren Shackleford, and I was born and raised in Navarre, FL. I am a Junior at South majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. I hope to go to law school and become a lawyer and someone my clients can always lean on. That's part of why I wanted to join the JSSN program. In this program and the future, I want to strive to be an advocate for everyone and be someone to listen and lend a helping hand.

I joined JSSN to be a pillar of support to my peers, create more resources for students struggling with adversity, and to inform my South community on the many aspects of health and wellness!

Hi! My name is Nancy Chen from Birmingham, Alabama. I am a sophomore majoring in Professional Health Sciences with a Healthcare Management concentration and a minor in Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry. I joined JSSN because I wanted to help advocate for students who struggle to advocate for themselves, and I’m excited to make a positive impact on our campus in regard to mental health.

Hey y’all, my name is Asilynn Dixon. I am a sophomore majoring in biomedical science. The reason why I decided to become a JSSN peer mentor was that I want to be that beacon of light in whatever a student is going through and allow students a safe space without any judgment!

Hi! My name is Cynthia Monasterio, and I am from Oxford, AL. I transferred to South Alabama this semester and am majoring in Radiologic Sciences. I chose to join JSSN when I realized I had the opportunity to be of support to other students. I greatly believe that building a genuine support system is essential for mental health and well-being in general. I would love to meet other students and be available in any way I can!

Mary Virginia Whatley
Hi everyone! My name is Mary Virginia Whatley (MV for short!) and I am from Indian Springs, Alabama. I am a freshman majoring in Biomedical Sciences and minoring in Spanish. I joined JSSN to be a reassuring and encouraging friend to stressed, anxious, and worried students that may be questioning their college path. A peer mentor would’ve been so helpful for me in the early steps, so I want to be that person for someone else! I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help my community!
