Air Force ROTC Courses

Cadets must complete the following courses and their associated Leadership Laboratory sections during the Air Force ROTC Program.

 

General Military Course (GMC)

GMC CADET LIFE

▼   First Year: Air Force Studies 100 (AS 100/150/250)
AS 100/150/250 courses are designed to introduce cadets to the Air Force
  • Fall Courses: AS101 & AS101L (1 credit hour)
  • Spring Courses: AS102 & AS102L (1 credit hour)
  • Heritage and Values I & II 
▼   Second Year: Air Force Studies 200 (AS 200/250)
AS 200/250 courses focus on the history of air and space power
  • Fall Courses: AS201 & AS201L (1 credit hour)
  • Spring Courses: AS202 & AS202L (1 credit hour)
  • Team/Leadership Fundamentals I & II

AS 200s/250s will prepare for Field Training which is typically during the summer of their sophomore year

*250s- Contract (scholarship) or non-contract (non-scholarship) cadets dual-enrolled in
the first (freshman) and second (sophomore) AS, simultaneously. These cadets must meet ALL
LLAB objectives for both courses.*

▼   AS 500 Cadets 
  • LLAB ONLY 
  • Cadets who have either completed the GMC and did not compete successfully for a POC allocation the previous year or are preparing for membership in the POC. They may also be cadets who did not successfully complete FT and are awaiting disenrollment (scholarship cadets) and/or awaiting to compete for an enrollment allocation for the POC.
  • They remain AS500 cadets until dropped, disenrolled, or entered into the POC. AS500 cadets are eligible for scholarship nomination and award; however, scholarship entitlements cannot be activated until entering the POC.

▼   Third Year: Air Force Studies 300 (AS 300)
AS 300 courses focus on leadership/management skills and professionalism
  • Fall Courses: AS301 & AS301L (3 credit hours)
  • Spring Courses: AS302 & AS302L (3 credit hours)
  • Lead People/Effect Comm I & II
▼   Fourth Year: Air Force Studies 400 (AS 400)
AS 400 courses focus on national security affairs and active duty preparation
  • Fall Courses: AS401 & AS401L (3 credit hours)
  • Spring Courses: AS402 & AS402L (3 credit hours)
  • Sec/Lead/Comm Prep I & II
▼   EXTENDED (AS 700, 800, 900) 
  • AS 700 - Non-scholarship contract cadet who has completed all AS and LLAB requirements
    but has not graduated. AS700 cadets are authorized up to 900 days of stipend if in a SAF-approved
    5-year major.

 

  • AS 800 - Contract cadet who has completed all AS and LLAB requirements but has not
    graduated and is still receiving additional scholarship entitlements.

 

  • AS 900 - Cadets who have completed all AFROTC and graduation requirements and are
    awaiting commissioning due to a delay. They do not need to participate in AFROTC classes or
    LLAB but must meet all pre-commissioning requirements on-time.
