Medical Billing and Coding

This certification trains the students in coding and billing patients based on medical history, procedures, symptoms, examination results, and treatment methods. They must also be able to communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure billing is accurate. This is one of the only medical profession positions that does not involve face-to-face interaction with patients.

The U.S. Department of Labor projects the field of medical billing and coding to grow by 22% from 2012–2022.  Additional information

Nonprofit Management

Nonprofits require competent and well-trained managers to run smoothly. In the state of Alabama, there are over 10,000 nonprofit organizations. This certification program is designed for those who are already working in nonprofit organizations in some capacity. The program grants the students the skills necessary to create an efficient workflow for his or her organization.  Additional information

Paralegal Studies

Paralegals assist attorneys by interviewing clients, filing paperwork, researching cases, and aiding in courtroom preparations. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over 2,000 paralegals work in the state of Alabama. In 2011, the mean salary for a paralegal in Alabama was $45,680.

This program is designed for those who have little to no paralegal experience but would like to become certified in the field.  Additional information

Photography

This program is designed for anyone who would like to expand his or her photography skills, including professional photographers and interested amateurs. Courses emphasize all aspects of the broad field of photography, while also helping photographers develop the business skills they need to be successful. At the completion of the certification program, students will have a portfolio or an exhibit of their work. Additional information
