Offshore Waters Forecast for the Gulf of America



Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average

height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be

more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of America

504 AM EDT Sat May 10 2025



.SYNOPSIS...A cold front extends from a 1008 mb low pres near

30N89W to the eastern Bay of Campeche near 19N92W. Strong storms

are affecting the NE Gulf waters, producing gusty winds and

frequent lightning. Fresh to strong NW-N winds will continue to

affect the SW Gulf waters, especially off Veracruz. Locally

rough seas may accompany these winds. Winds will diminish by

early Sun. The low pressure is forecast to move northward into the

southern United States over the next couple of days and drag the

cold front across the eastern Gulf. The front will depart the

basin early next week. Fresh to strong S winds are expected ahead

of the front today into Sun.
